Vegan nation

Veganism is a whole new thing nowadays. Both a trend and a lifestyle choice. N, lead writer/editor here at the shoe closet is a vegan, she says that all she has to think about is the horrible way those animals are treated and all the gross chemicals pumped into those products and she doesn’t miss the occasional cookie. Also, she feels healthier and lighter (so she says).

But we’re not here to make a statement about veganism. N loves it, other people think it’s crazy, we’re just here to feature some awesome vegan footwear from Natalie Portman and Te Casan.

First up, Plath. A lovely little satin pump with a pomp. We're fans of the purple, as well as the pink champagne colour.

Now for the utterly delicious Pana....which we all want to run online to buy. The gladiator style sandal is, as I'm sure you've all noticed, super hot right now. And this one is beautiful!

We have also fallen in love with the Petra, a more dress orientated shoe. The red colour is a perfect look at me shade, and this silver is quite eye catching too. The shoe is also offered in black, but why not take a risk?

Finally we have to give a shout out to these gorgeous flats, called Pia. With their buckle detail they are super cute. They're our personal favourites among the entire Natalie Portman for Te Casan line. We're lusting after the purple.

You can find all Natalie Portman's vegan styles at the Te Casan website. And we'll be keeping out eyes open for more vegan styles for future pieces.

The Love of our Life- Christian Louboutin.

We are totally obsessed with Louboutin, obviously it’s quite easy to see why. His fabulous creations are beyond mere footwear and into the realm of art. (Art with a side order of smoldering sex appeal).

This shoe legacy (and indeed legend) began in 1979 when Louboutin began designing shoes that wouldn’t scratch the wood floor outside the Museum Of Oceanic Art in Paris, or at least that’s how the story goes. Now the Louboutin line is internationally famous for style, grace, and beauty.

Do we sound like an advertisement yet?

Featured this week are some of our favourite Louboutin styles, from past lines and present. Prepare for your mouth to start watering.

First up, Lady Gres.

The perfect pump with a hidden platform….and also one of the most duplicated designs. You can’t walk into a moderately priced shoe store without seeing some variant of this beauty.

Next, these gorgeous pink satin peep toes.

Pink being one of our favourite colours here at the shoe closet we had to feature these, which are the most delicious shade of pink.

For adding a little sparkle to your life consider these gems, the Prive Paillette Platforms.

These are just so delicious that we’re salivating over them even now!

Finally, because we’re devout bootist’s over here, the Goya ankle boots

Which we adore so deeply we’re considering cashing in our student loans to buy a pair…….

That's all the Christian Louboutin we can handle at the moment, we may go into shock if expected to show more. Stay tuned….new feature hitting the net next Monday.

Visits to the Holy Land: Office Shoes London

We are returned from our all too brief sabbatical in the UK. And we bring with us tales from that Mecca for the shoe lover, Office.

We stumbled upon Office shoes whilst wandering the narrow streets of Covent Garden, and were smitten instantaneously; purchasing a pair of brilliant zebra print trainers. It seemed impossible for our adoration to grow…..but grow it did, exponentially, when we discovered The Office sale shop on Tottenham Court Road. This is truly a place of bliss.

With shoes starting at £1 (£5-£10 being the average price) a shoe fiend (like me) could easily spend days in this sale shop. As it is, we spent nearly three hours, emerging from the glass doors clutching our shopping bags, each filled with several new pairs of shoe love.

All that being said, here are some Office greatest hits for your enjoyment. Find The Office sale shop in the flesh at: 6-17 Tottenham Court Road, London W1T (unit 6a).

Because Office is literally chock full of fabulous footwear and because we get a deep sense of longing whilst gazing at page after page of their beautiful shoes, we’re featuring only a select few of our favourite styles. Beginning with, The Androquai flat. Yes, this is the trainer N bought day one in London. They’re quite amazing:

Next we’re in love with these flats called enigma. A friend of N’s in London bought a pair and she loves them, we’re taking her word on the comfort level, but they certainly look fabulous!

Thirdly, in our almost daily perusal of the office website, we saw and fell in love with these amazing boots (called Kristy). They’re on sale (only £30), but unfortunately are also only left in a UK size 3 (US 5). Still, they’re gorgeous.

Last, but certainly not least, we have a real shoe treat. While in the sale shop we found these size 40 ankle boots. Clearly they are the most amazing shoes anyone over here at The Shoe Closet has seen in a long while, and if they had fit, someone would have surely bought them. However, they remain on the shop floor waiting for a loving home:

Ah, Office. Nobody does it better.
