We realize that over here at The Shoe Closet we have a penchant for featuring shoes that are more useful for looking amazing that getting things done. So, in honour of labour day we decided to feature some footwear that look marvelous but also serve a purpose!
In search of such finds we wandered to zappos.com as well as piperlime.com and what a plethora of functional and fabulous footwear did we find!
First we found the delicious Joie “Miles Away” boot. Perfect (once waterproofed) for chilly winter days, and with its flat heel, easy to walk miles in. It reminds us of another boot we’re lusting after…..
The Kiss by Jessica Simpson. Believe it or not, this woman has some fairly awesome shoes. N, has a pair of silver flats she bought for our expedition to London, and she wore them almost every day, they are amazing. We’re seriously considering spending our entire next paycheque on these babies….you can even order them online from piperlime with free shipping!

Of course we wouldn’t dream of not featuring the eternal Converse All Star. Is there a person alive who hasn’t worn a pair of these gems? We’ve personally walked hundreds of miles in our pair. They are a truly excellent shoe. And with all the colour choices you’re sure to find one the suits you….over here were fans of the classic black and white.

We love rubber wellies as much as the next girl and especially the ones produced by Hunter. Like this Rhs full knee boot. The patterns offered by the brand are varied and awesome, perfect for gardening in style, or trudging through a snowy winter. They also feature a short knee length.

We love also these tie top flats from Clarks, called Adore Groove. Clarks has a reputation for making some of the most comfortable shoes around, and we were infatuated by the cute shape of this pair. We also adore the colour but the shoe is offered in more subdued hues as well.
Now, we need to clarify something about our last feature. We are not really fans of the shearling boot, we hate it when women pair those horrible Ugg’s with miniskirts (which we saw far too often on college campuses everywhere) but there’s something to be said for a really comfortable and warm boot. We rather wear them like slippers, but this pair (called Hip) by Emu Australia are tolerable (and even a little bit cute).

Now that you've got some first hand knowledge of shoes that really carry their weight, go out and enjoy your labour day!
